A 19-year-old former Cascade High School student fell to his death from the second-floor balcony of his University of Washington fraternity house early this morning.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Brett A. Jensen. Police spokesman Scott Moss said the death was accidental.
Jensen fell from Phi Kappa Phi fraternity in the 4500 block of 17th Avenue Northeast about 1:15 a.m. Witnesses told police that Jensen had been drinking but did not appear intoxicated. He was alone when he fell about 30 feet from a second-floor balcony and landed in an alley.
Others inside the Pi Kappa Phi house heard a thump and found Jensen. Attempts to revive him failed and he died after being taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Jensen, a freshman, graduated last spring from Cascade High School where he was class president and finished with a perfect 4.0 grade average. He received several academic honors while attending Cascade High School where his father has been a counselor for many years.
