Trail is neglected and overgrown

The walking trail along the river at Langus Park is something my wfe and I walk almost on a daily basis; however, it is very disgusting to see the neglect in upkeep in the summer time. The last time the parks department mowed along the edges of the trail was last May, and since then it has become overgrown and been left unattended. Foliage, grass and blackberry vines have grown out onto the path.

I have talked with a representative on three different occasions in early July and was assured it would be attended to. Well, it is now the middle of August, and it is still deplorable.

The Everett Parks Department wants to spend $4.5 million to $5 million on a pedestrian overpass from East Grand to make the park and trail more accessible to people. Well, I would encourage them to address the maintenance problem first. The Everett parks director and maintenance staff should be embarrassed to leave such a nice walking trail in such a condition when so many people walk this trail everyday.

The city keeps up the Langus Park portion with pride – well groomed at all times – so why not take a little more pride in keeping up the trail portion ?
