Eagles should buy property it sits on

Congratulations to letter writer Bob Monize (“Ten Commandments: If it’s moved, it will only be more visible,” Jan. 4)! We also have a suggestion for the City of Everett in regard to this monument. Why not sell this small parcel of land that this offensive display sits on to the Fraternal Order of Eagles? It would no longer be part of our government trying to force our citizens to believe in a supreme being or any other thing of a religious nature. Now the “Americans for the Separation of Church and State” will be jubilant as they have won their battle.
I also have been a member of the Eagles for more than 30 years and would volunteer my time to clean the monument, cut the grass or whatever else was needed to keep this monument in its proper place.
