50 years ago (1954)

The Everett Police Association and the Everett local of the Fire Fighters’ Union were making preparations for their All-City Playday. Displaying the prizes were Terry Tucker, chairman for the police; Charlie Nicholson, police president; Leo Jensen, firefighters president; and Darwin Marl, chairman for the firefighters.

Winners of blue ribbons for dairy cattle at the 4-H Fair at Marysville were Larry Johnson, Rt. 1 Marysville; Albert Van Patten, Rt. 5 Arlington; and Pat Britten, Snohomish.

25 years ago (1954)

The Snohomish County Economic Development Council just published its 1979 updated version of the Snohomish County Manufacturers List. Staffer Judy Starr said the list had been expanded and published in a new, easier-to-use format. Copies were available at the EDC office in the Medical-Dental Building.

Preservation of the rural nature and clean waters of the Stillaguamish Valley were among goals of an organization formed by a group of north Snohomish County residents. Dennis Ingram of Arlington was president of the group named “Friends for a Rural Stillaguamish.” The 20 to 25 members planned to meet monthly at the Ingram home on Huckleberry Lane.
