Two boys die in Mountlake Terrace fire

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – Two boys, ages 4 and 6, were killed in a fatal apartment fire about 11:30 a.m. in Mountlake Terrace.

The two-alarm fire broke out in an apartment in the 5000 block of 212th Street SW. The boys’ father, aunt and grandfather and 13-month-old sister were home at the time. Police say family tried to rescue the boys but were pushed back by the intense heat and smoke.

Firefighters also were unable to reach the boys. The boys’ father was treated for injuries he sustained while trying to save the boys.
