The Future of Flight

The world’s newest airplane museum opens at Paine Field in Everett this weekend. They’re calling it the Future of Flight Aviation Center &Boeing Tour. I’ve written a ton of stories about it that appeared in The Herald today — here’s a link to all of them: http://www.heraldnet.com/futureofflight/

And here’s a link to the official Future of Flight Web site: http://www.futureofflight.org

It’s a gorgeous building, and if you’re a jet geek (and since you’re reading this you obviously are), there’s a lot of cool eye candy: one of the prototype 787 barrell sections, a dismounted 777 engine, a massive 747 tail fin, a pretty cool display of Panasonic in-flight entertainment systems and a REALLY cool display of 3-D laser hologram technology that’s being developed as a training tool for jet mechanics.

Add to that mix the fact that it’s the new launching point for Boeing’s Everett factory tours, and you’ve got yourself a tourist attraction. At least, that’s what the backers are hoping. They might just be right.

I’m off next week, so no updates till I get back. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Joyful Kwanza to you all. And if you’re not celebrating any of those holidays next week, then just have fun, hang loose and don’t forget to play nice.
