LAKE STEVENS – Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives are advising the community about the release of a level 3 sex offender.
Jeff Derrel Henderson, 44, was released Monday night and is living in the 11900 block of Purple Pennant Road.
The sheriff’s office will have a community meeting to discuss Henderson’s release at 7 p.m. March 9 at Lake Stevens High School, 2908 113th Ave. NE.
A Snohomish County jury convicted Henderson in 1986 of four counts of first-degree rape with a deadly weapon. The jury found that Henderson attacked his victims in the early morning while they were walking or jogging in public.
The women and girls, ranging in age from 12 to 22, were all unknown to Henderson. He wore a ski mask in three of the assaults, bound the victims in tape and held a knife or gun to the victims while he sexually assaulted them, according to the sheriff’s office.
While in prison, Henderson declined sex offender treatment, according to police, but did not meet the criteria for civil commitment.
Henderson has been in jail in Pierce County since 2004, when he was charged with first-degree attempted kidnapping. The charge was dismissed, and Henderson was released Monday, the sheriff’s office said. He has no conditions associated with his release.
