FYI

Published 9:00 pm Friday, April 21, 2006

Today is Earth Day, set aside to honor the land and preserve our planet. Environmentalist author Jacqueline Stewart promotes the preservation of public lands, especially parks.

She offers advice to make sure our parks stay in top shape:

* Carry out what you carried in and leave no trace of your presence behind.

* Sign up for park cleanup days with your kids and friends.

* Teach children early on to respect their natural surroundings.

Child ID program honored in Bothell

The Herald wrote about Vinny DiGiulio’s Child Identification Program on April 11.

At the start of the Bothell City Council meeting about 6 p.m. Monday, DiGiulio will present certificates of appreciation to city officials for their help in letting the public know of the program.

After the presentation, he will be at Ashler Masonic Center at First and Main streets in Bothell to help anyone interested in offering a Child Identification Program.

Crossword confusion

A misspelling in the United Features Syndicate crossword puzzle on Page C8 Thursday confused many readers. The clue to 51 across was “purchases,” and the answer was “acquisitions.” However, the puzzle only allowed 11 spaces for the 12-letter word, and the answer, published on Friday, omitted the second “i” in the word.
