All the news that sits …

You might have seen the recent New York Times story http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/04/25/business/Seats.php discussing how Airbus was quietly pitching a plan for standing-room-only “seating” on the A380.

Key Quote: “Passengers in the standing section would be propped against a padded backboard, held in place with a harness, according to some who have seen a proposal.”

Airbus quickly and hotly denied the story, CNN reported. http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/25/news/companies/airline_standing/index.htm

Key Quote: “A spokeswoman for Airbus flatly denied the report Tuesday, going so far as to call it ‘crap.’”

Today, notes sharp-eyed Bloomberg news goddess Susanna Ray, the Times issued a correction. http://www.nytimes.com/ref/pageoneplus/corrections.html

Key Quote: “The company now says that while it researched that idea in 2003, it has since abandoned it.”
