In case you’ve been completely ignoring everything going on with Boeing, the ethics scandals and the 787 for the past three years or so, this story in The NY Times on Sunday will get you up to speed. http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/05/07/business/web.0507boeing.php

Key Quote: “‘The 787 is the most successful new launch of a plane — ever,’ said Howard A. Rubel, an aerospace analyst at Jeffries &Company, an investment bank that has advised a Boeing subsidiary. ‘But,’ he added, ‘the burden is that their engineering is as good as they say it is.’”

Key Quote 2: “Never before has Boeing farmed out so much work to so many partners – and in so many countries. The outsourcing is so extensive that Boeing acknowledges it has no idea how many people around the world are working on the 787 project.”
