Check’s written, so the money is gone

I read with interest in Monday’s paper about how banks are now using a priority system to process checks.

I have been writing checks since I was 17 years old, and now I’m almost 70. I’ve been poorer than Job’s turkey, and have never had a check bounce in all these years. Once that check has been written, the money is gone, period. You never know when that check will be cashed. Don’t play with the banks. They are way bigger than we are.
