Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from Everett, provided by police:

  • 4100 block of Rucker Avenue, Jan. 7: An Arlington woman was arrested and cited for theftafter a Safeway security officer stopped the woman on suspicion of shoplifting a container of soup from the store in the. The soup was valued at $5.96.

  • 1700 block of W. Marine View Drive, Jan. 5: Police arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after he was found asleep in someone else’s houseboat in the marina. The suspect reportedly cooked a steak while on the boat.

  • 800 block of E. Casino Road, Jan. 5: A boy, 15, was citedfor possession of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia while at Cascade High School. The suspect was released to his mother.

  • 100 block of W. Casino Road, Jan. 3: A man was arrested and booked into the county jail after he reportedly crossed five lanes of traffic without using a nearby crosswalk. An officer saw the suspect and another man dart across the street. He warned the men to use the crosswalk next time. The suspect swore at the officer and continued walking. The officer asked the man to stop, but he refused and cussed again at the officer. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer.

  • 3600 block of McDougall Avenue, Jan. 2: A woman found insulation and ceiling debris on the floor when she arrived at work. Police found a hole in the ceiling and roof. A bullet was also found on the floor. Police believe someone shot a gun during a New Year’s celebration.
