The rainmakers

“Here comes the sun.” That’s what meteorologists are singing in China. They say they have a plans to make sure it’s sunny during Olympic ceremonies by making it rain beforehand.
Brilliant. Can we get those guys over here? If they could just schedule a rainout for all the M’s road games when Felix isn’t pitching.
OK. That’s not fair. Not fair at all. Jarrod Washburn pitched a complete-game shutout in Oakland on Wednesday. (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/04/26/100spo_d1m001.cfm?refresh=yes) The Mariner bandwagon won’t phone in an order for rain for his next start.
Shrek is a role model for the government’s anti-obesity efforts. Some parents are outraged that the character, who is featured on countless sweets, is telling kids to eat healthy. The Cookie Monster: It’s cute when a furry blue monster says “Me want cookie,” but less cute when your 4-year-old screeches it.
Winnie the Pooh: He models many great character traits but his obsession with honey could give the wrong message.
Barbie: Plastic surgery and starvation are not the answers, girls.
GI Joe: Neither are steroids, boys.
