Come on down and say goodbye

Bob Barker said goodbye to “The Price Is Right” on Wednesday, taping his last episode after 35 years as host (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/06/07/100wir_a2barker001.cfm).

Sadly, that leaves only a week of new episodes with Darrington’s most famous native — OK, its only famous native.

A look at Bob’s career, by the numbers:

17: Emmy Awards.

6,724: “Price Is Right” episodes.

20: Years since his hair suddenly went from dark brown one day to shiny gray the next.

15,000: Approximate number of times people were dumb enough to bid only a few dollars below someone else’s bid when trying to play their way off Contestants’ Row.

20,172: Estimated number of women who’ve kissed him. That’s a

conservative guess. It assumes just half the contestants are female, and it doesn’t include Barker’s Beauties — on or off camera.

25: Years since anyone else could have gotten away with calling models

“beauties” on TV.

Seven: Lawsuits brought by women for sexual harassment and other alleged offenses since 1993. One withdrawn, one pending, five settled. If you’re scoring at home, that means he’s technically undefeated.

One: Thoroughly enjoyable pummeling of Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore.”

Infinite: Number of reasons TV will never be the same without him.
