50 years ago (1957)

Fully sanctioned and officially opened, Mukilteo’s public boat launching ramp got the same treatment it had been getting for more than a month – plenty of use. On hand were Mayor Dick Taylor, sportsman Henry Fisher, John Vanderzicht of the State Parks Commission and Tom McCutchan of the Port of Everett.

25 years ago (1982)

Earl Averill, 80, a baseball Hall of Famer from Snohomish, was checking his roster as manager of the American League team in the Seattle Mariners Old-Timers game. One of his players was Earl Torgeson of Everett, who had also played pro baseball.
