Snohomish parade to feature TV pirate

Snohomish resident Azmyth Kaminski, who appears on the CBS series “Pirate Master,” will ride a float in the Snohomish Kla Ha Ya Days Parade at 6 p.m. Saturday.The float will be provided by Designer’s Furniture Warehouse of Snohomish and Everett and will feature a pirate theme.

Get scoop on zippy Highway 99 bus

Community Transit offers four meetings to outline its plans for Swift, a fast, frequent and high-tech “trainlike” bus service coming to the Highway 99 corridor in 2009.

Meetings are planned for:

  • 6 p.m. Tuesday, Snohomish South County PUD, Auditorium 21018 Highway 99, Edmonds.

  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Everett Station, Weyerhaeuser Room, 3201 Smith Ave., Everett.

  • Noon July 24, Snohomish South County PUD Auditorium, 21018 Highway 99, Edmonds.

  • 6 p.m. July 26, Evergreen Middle School, Cafeteria, 7621 Beverly Lane, Everett.

    Swift will run along a 16.7-mile route from Everett Station to the Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline. Running every 10 minutes with only 15 stops, Swift will dramatically reduce travel times along the route.

    Cosmetology school offers open house

    Do you want to cut, dye and perm? Visit the Everett Community College’s cosmetology program at an open house from noon to 4 p.m. July 23 at the EvCC School of Cosmetology, 9315 State Ave., Suite G, Marysville.

    Students may earn an associate of technical arts degree and may attend part time- or full-time.

    Cosmetologists will discuss their careers and answer questions about the field at the open house. EvCC instructors, enrollment coordinators and financial aid representatives will also be on hand to help those interested in the program.
