Ross Adams has joined the 71-member force of the Lynnwood Police Department at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy in Burien. Adams earned awards for best firearms, best academic performance and best overall work. He was a reserve police officer with the department for five years while working in real estate. His father and his uncle are retired Seattle police officers.

Mike Bergstrom, a new firefighter and mechanic at the Paine Field Fire Department, recently graduated from the Washington State Fire Training Academy at North Bend. There he was chosen class and squad leader and earned the leadership, Bulldog and inspirational awards. A longtime mechanic, he previously worked for the city of Kirkland. The Paine Field department’s mechanics also maintain the emergency vehicles for the cities of Mukilteo and Arlington.

Rob Grannum has been named chairman of Moss Adams’ cost segregation services group. A certified public accountant, he leads a team of engineers and accountants who provide studies in cost segregation and related tax matters.

Nazim Karmali has joined Cascade Bank as senior vice president and business banking team leader. Karmali will work out of the Everett-based bank’s Issaquah branch.

The new North County Visitor Information Center’s open house is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the office shared with Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce, Pilchuck Plaza, Suite C101, 3710 168th St. NE, Arlington. Cadiac Science Corp., a Bothell-based company that makes advanced cardiac monitoring and defibrillation products, has received Frost &Sullivan’s Global Excellence award for electrocardiogram monitoring, The award recognizes Cardiac Science’s leadership in the cardiac monitoring marketplace.

Ray Eads, a financial adviser for seniors, and Ramonda Sosa, a housing services manager for seniors, will be this month’s guests on “Getting Your Dough to Rise,” a personal finance show on KSER 90.7 FM public radio in Snohomish County. The show airs at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and is hosted by Chuck Noel.

Two Everett residential properties have been sold by the Marcus &Millichap real estate investment brokerage firm. Lake Vista, a 56-unit apartment building at 713 75th St. SE, sold for $6.4 million. A duplex at 6309 Cady Road sold for $450,000.

Digital forensics students who complete the second in a series of three certificate program classes at Edmonds Community College have the option to test to earn the Cyber Security Forensic Analyst certification at no additional charge. The test otherwise would cost $400. The test requires candidates to process a computer forensic case and submit an analysis. An increase in the use of computer-based evidence for civil and criminal legal cases gas has led to greater demand for digital forensics specialists in law enforcement, the military and private industry. Good deeds

Banks in Lake Stevens are collecting food for the Lake Stevens Food Bank, and the food drive has become a competition. Participating banks include North County Bank, Key Bank, BECU inside the Safeway store, Frontier Bank, Washington Mutual, Cascade Bank inside the Haggen store, Wells Fargo by the Albertsons store and Wells Fargo downtown. Collection bins will be placed in the banks Aug. 6-31. The bank that collects the most money and food will be awarded a banner that claims its customers “care the most.”
