Leaders of both parties predicted passage today in the U.S. House of Representatives of a bill that would increase mailing charges, but a fight was possible. If the bill was approved, the price to mail a letter would change from three cents to four cents.
Dr. A McKay Ogden, who had returned to Snohomish County after two years of service with the U.S. Army, was to open dental offices in the Medical-Dental Building. Ogden practiced dentistry in Snohomish for several years before entering the Army. While on military duty, he served in Korea and Japan.

People in business included Errol Taylor, newly promoted vice president at Bayliner; Enn Mikk, newly appointed sales manager for Bayliner; Rance Molitor, who was a representative for Mutual of Omaha; and Deborah Ann Wieditz, newly registered jeweler at Ben Bridge.
State Sen. King Lysen, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, was officially opening his Everett headquarters at 1319 Hewitt Ave. with a symbolic candlelight lunch. An opponent to the Washington Public Power Supply System and its nuclear power plant construction program, he would have no electric power in the office.
