Fundraiser

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville will hold its annual garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7 and 8, at 51st Avenue NE and Grove Street. On Saturday, there will be an all-day car wash and a buck-a-bag sale from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Food and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the event will help fund the senior high youth trip to Mt. Cross Ministries in northern California for service projects next summer.

Donations of clean, gently used clothing for babies, kids and teens, households items and furniture in good condition will be accepted. No computers, microwaves, older car seats or strollers, please.

    Peace vigil

    Stanwood and Camano Island Churches are holding a 24-hour vigil for peace at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 1318 E. Highway 532 at the north end of Camano Island. Churches will lead prayers for those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

    Concert

    The New Life Prison Ministry will host The Mosaic Choir, comprising musicians and singers from more than 25 local churches, at 7 p.m. Sept. 22. In addition to the choir, a silent auction and dessert fellowship will follow to raise funds for New Life Prison Ministry.

    The performance and auction will take place at New Life Foursquare Church, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett.

    Adoption fair

    Ibsen Adoption Network is working to help encourage and support families to pursue adoption with an adoption fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

    The adoption process can often be an overwhelming endeavor filled with fears, confusion and misconceptions. The adoption information fair can provide the first step for families by answering questions, providing financial and other resources and offering support.

    Regional adoption agencies will be represented and will have information about children waiting to be adopted. The fair will have an open-house format, with adoptive families available to answer questions and offer support to other adoptive and pre-adoptive families.

    Worship

    All are invited to a Taizé Labyrinth Worship Service at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at Edmonds Christian Church, 23010 84th Ave. W., Edmonds. The labyrinth worship service is conducted in the manner of a Taizé service and is filled with music, prayer and silence. All are welcome to walk the labyrinth in the stillness of prayer.

    Women’s workshops

    Women’s inspirational and motivational workshops are being featured by Christian-based Learn To Let Go and Grow. The series runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 and 13 at the Old Snohomish Library (the Carnegie Building), 105 Cedar Ave., Snohomish.

    There will be a different series for each evening.

    The workshops are open to all women who register and will be taught by motivational speaker and registered counselor.

    Public lunches

    Free lunches from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. second Tuesdays, with a social hour from 12:30 to 2 p.m., at the Faith Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 6708 Cady Road, Everett. Lunches are open to all.

    Shawl ministry

    St. Michael’s Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at 10 a.m. today at 1512 Pine Ave., Snohomish.

    The group meets to make shawls for the elderly and sick, as well as new mothers. Each shawl includes prayers for the person that it’s meant for. The group is open to everyone, whether you knit, crochet or just want to learn.

    Torah classes

    Torah classes and discussion for practicing Jews or those who wish to learn more about their faith are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Chabad Jewish Center of Snohomish County, 19 W. Intercity Ave., Everett. Free for adults and teenagers with parents’ permission.

    Support group

    A 13-week support group for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 9 through Dec. 2, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 9613 20th St. SE, Everett. The group, called GriefShare, requests that participants register in advance.
