Nov. 4, 2004: President Bush had just won his second term, Fantasia Barrino was the reigning “American Idol” champion, and Lynnwood had its last triumph on the football field — until last night.
Congratulations to the Royals, who took down Mountlake Terrace, ending their losing streak at 20 games (Page E7). Now the kids can dream of matching that 2004 team’s feat of a magical two-win season.
Meanwhile, the Huskies beat Syracuse and reminded us why betting on football is so much fun. Or would be, if it were legal, of course.
Now we turn our attention and our wallets to the Cougars, who are 14-point underdogs against Wisconsin in their opener today. We’ll take last night’s winnings and put them on the Badgers to cover.
It could be a rough year for the Cougs. If things go as expected, fed-up fans may end up scouring the nation’s exotic dancing establishments to find Mike Price and bring him back.
NBC is going to battle with Apple because it wants to charge more than twice as much as other networks for downloads of its TV shows.
Before you go defending NBC because “The Office” is so good, remember the debt it owes society for bringing “Joey” to television.
