50 years ago (1957)
The annual back-to-school tea for Everett High School educators was held in the school cafeteria. Waiting their turn to be served were the four who had been on the EHS faculty the longest number of years: Noel Walther, Raymond Howell, Esther Johnson and Bert Vanderwilt. Pouring drinks and arranging tables were Beth Sievers, Grace Bargreen, Marjorie Christensen and Florence Deterling.
Jascha Galperin, instructor of string instruments in the Mukilteo School District, was to present a musical program at the first meeting of Rosehill PTA tomorrow in the school lunchroom.
25 years ago (1982)
A young Everett couple who prided themselves on friendly, helpful service was restoring the Broadway Hardware and Variety Store to what people remembered it as a community gathering spot and a you-can-get-anything-there type of place. Since Steve and Rhonda Griffin bought the neglected, depleted store a year ago, they had cleaned it up, stocked it up, and were gradually regaining customers who had ceased going there.
Everett residents Thomas Moran, an Everett High School graduate, and Cameron Seibold, a graduate of Lakeside School, were members of the freshman class at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
