Red Cross needs people to teach health classes
The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross has an immediate need for instructors to teach health and safety courses such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid and automated external defibrillator use.
Candidates must be available to work early morning and daytime hours in Everett, Lynnwood and Edmonds. For more information, call Janene Rae at 425-740-2342.

Know someone who has shown courage, kindness and selflessness in helping others?
The American Red Cross is looking for “everyday heroes” from Snohomish County.
Honorees will be recognized at the Snohomish County Chapter’s 12th annual Real Heroes Breakfast on Dec. 6 at Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center.
Extraordinary deeds must have been performed between Oct. 1, 2006, and Oct. 5, 2007, and nominees must live in Snohomish County or be assigned to a ship or military facility in the county.
Nomination forms are available at www.snohomishcounty.redcross.org or by calling Kay Ashenfelter at 425-740-2324. Nomination deadline is Oct. 5.
Mukilteo Library wants teen help
Mukilteo teenagers have a chance to help plan the programs and services they want to see at the Mukilteo Library.

Sewing volunteers sought for program
Those interested in volunteering to teach sewing and needle arts to Snohomish County residents are encouraged to attend October training sessions for the Clothing and Textile Advisor program.
Classes are at the Washington State University Snohomish County Extension office, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Vendors needed for Snohomish bazaar
Snohomish Senior Center is looking for craft vendors for its fundraising bazaar set for Nov. 10 and 11 at the Snohomish Masonic Hall.

Senior advocates needed in county
Adults living in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and adult family homes throughout Snohomish County are in need of community help.
More than 2,500 residents of these facilities lack a volunteer ombudsman, someone who serves as an advocate, educator, investigator and problem-solver.
Volunteers receive four days of training and are asked to volunteer four hours a week. The next training session is set for Oct. 8, 9, 15 and 16. For more information, call 425-388-7393 or e-mail michal.glauner@co.snohomish.wa.us at the Snohomish County Human Services office.
Mill Creek offers senior social fair
Join other seniors for coffee, tea, goodies and conversation at the upcoming Mill Creek Senior Center’s Social and Resource Fair.
The social is set for 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 28 in the senior offices at the Snohomish County’s Washington State University Extension unit, McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
Senior citizens are encouraged to attend and find out what the Mill Creek Senior Center offers.
Activities at the center include fitness, computer work, support classes and day trips throughout the region. Those attending also can find out more about the effort to construct a new senior center.
