And the Emmy goes to …

Yesterday was Emmy Sunday, which is a lot like Oscar Sunday, only with 24 million fewer people watching.

We could tell you what happened, but we wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise for those of you who made the agonizing decision to watch football rather than the awards. Instead, we’d like to hand out prizes of our own to some of today’s news stories.

Best comedy: The Minneapolis men’s room where U.S. Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho was arrested has become an impromptu tourist attraction. Better go see it before someone has the stall bronzed and starts charging admission.

Best drama: After trailing for much of their game against Arizona, the Seahawks battled their way into the lead, only to fumble at a crucial time and lose on an Arizona field goal.

Hey, not every game can have a happy ending. That only happens on “Friday Night Lights.”

Best actor in a lead role: Mike Holmgren. If you wanted to know how the Seahawks’ game was going, all you had to do was look at his face. He might be the only person who can frown hard enough to crack a walnut between his eyebrows.
