50 years ago (1957)
Advancement of Elmer Husby, assistant manager, to the position of president and manager to succeed the late Arthur Anderson was announced by Snohomish County Title Co. Husby was a Mount Vernon native. He then moved to Yakima and moved to Everett in 1951.
Plans for moving Dean Witter and Co. offices to a street-level location in November were announced by Norman Smith, local manager. The offices of the investment bankers would be changed from the First National Bank Building to the space on Hewitt Avenue near Colby Avenue, recently occupied by Friedlander and Sons. Friedlander was moving to the corner.
25 years ago (1982)
With music, dancing, food and brief speeches, Snohomish County Hispanic organizations opened their first community center. The south Everett facility at 7600 Evergreen Way would put the county Hispanic Coalition’s various services under one roof for the first time. The open house and program coincided with National Hispanic Heritage Week.
Al Bennett reported that the classic bar in the lounge of the Ramada Everett Pacific Hotel at Pacific Avenue and Pine Street was a beautiful restoration of an 1800s-era bar from Pioneer Square in Seattle.
