Edmonds: Meet city job candidates

The public is invited to meet the candidates for the city’s positions of police chief and economic development director at an open house today in the City Council chambers.

The open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the chambers inside the Public Safety Complex at 250 Fifth Ave. N. The event is expected to last an hour.

Members of the City Council are planning to be at the open house.

The regular City Council meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. in the chambers.

Lynnwood: Orange art show at gallery

Dozens of pieces of artwork all featuring the color orange are planned to be on display through mid-November at the Lynnwood Library Gallery.

The exhibit, called Orange Crush, is planned to be on display starting Friday through Nov. 15 at the gallery inside the Lynnwood Library at 19200 44th Ave. W. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The library is closed on national holidays.

Orange Crush is the library gallery’s fourth-annual juried, themed art exhibit. The 46 pieces of artwork include paintings, prints, textiles and ceramics. All artwork was crafted by local and regional artists.

A reception for the artists is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 at the gallery.

Mill Creek: Shred documents for free

A day to destroy documents containing private information is planned this week by Mayor Donna Michelson.

The free event, called Document Destruction Day, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.

People are limited to four boxes of documents for destruction. It is not necessary to remove staples, paper clips and fasteners. The event is open to anyone.

The purpose of the event is to help deter identity theft.

Monroe: City names committee member

The City Council on Sept. 18 appointed Eldon Bartelheimer to the city’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. The five-member committee reviews the city’s hotel and motel tax revenues and makes recommendations about how the city should spend the tax to promote local tourism.

Mountlake Terrace: Learn about finance

A free class about savings, checking accounts, borrowing and credit cards is being offered next month by Boeing Employees Credit Union.

The workshop is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Mountlake Terrace Library at 23300 58th Ave. W.
