United Way needs help for Days of Caring
Volunteer registration is continuing for United Way’s Days of Caring on Friday and Saturday.
Those interested can team up with co-workers, family, neighbors and more than 1,000 other volunteers to complete hands-on projects such as painting, building, cleaning and reading to kids.

Free car care for single parents
The Single Mom’s Car Care Event is set for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at Clearview Foursquare Church, 17210 Highway 9, south of Snohomish.
To make an appointment for free oil changes, tire checks, car washes and other services, call 360-668-6033.
In addition, those attending the event will be treated to a breakfast or lunch buffet, child care, manicures, haircuts and gift bags.
Medical screenings free with Shriners
A screening clinic to identify children who can benefit from medical care at Shriners Hospitals for Children is set for 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at Nile Shrine Center, 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace.
There is no charge for the clinic and there is no charge for treatment at one of the Shriners Hospitals. The nearest hospitals are in Spokane and Portland, Ore.
Children from birth through the growing years are accepted for treatment. Acceptance is based on the ability to improve the condition of the patient, who may have problems with bones, joints or muscles, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, hip, hand or foot disorders, cleft palate, burns, or scars.

Zonta Club schedules fundraising auction
The Zonta Club of Everett’s 31st annual fundraising auction, Wild Wild West, is set for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.
Activities include three silent auctions, a live auction, a dessert auction, a wine raffle, dinner and a cash bar. Admission is $75. Proceeds go to programs that improve the status of women.

Volunteers can give Everett visitors ideas
The Everett City Concierge Visitor Information Center, located at the Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center, needs volunteers for weekly shifts of three to four hours, Mondays through Saturdays, at the visitor information center and arena guest services kiosk.
Knowledge of Everett and the surrounding area is helpful but not required.

Arts of the Terrace needs volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help with the 29th annual juried art show, Arts of the Terrace, set for Friday through Oct. 6 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.
