50 years ago (1957)
Janice Mary Margaretich and Allan L. White exchanged wedding vows last Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church. Parents were Mr. and Mrs. John J. Margaretich and Mrs. C.W. White. Maid of honor for her twin sister was Jonette Margaretich. Brother Jack White was best man, and brother Gene White performed nuptial solos.
Returning starters at Twin City High School gathered with coach Ray Mehnke to lay strategy for tonight’s game with Lake Stevens at the Cardinal field. They were John Mjoen, tackle; John Odegaard, end; Jerry Sande, halfback; Jim Habe, halfback; and Jim Trimmit, guard.
25 years ago (1982)
After a year of secret negotiations and testing, the Port of Everett unveiled a new loading system that could bring Everett a hefty piece of the lucrative apple export trade. The Port of Seattle had enjoyed a virtual monopoly on apple shipments.
The Everett Bees U-15 girls’ soccer team coached by Jodi Heath extended their record to 3-1-1 by winning their last two games at the district level. The Bees beat last year’s state champs, the South Seattle Swamp Rats, and then downed the Seattle Crickets on goals by Tommie Flack, Darla Cea and Shawn Ellis.
