HEADED TO NATIONALS: The Shorewood High School Drill Team has qualified for a national competition in Orlando, Fla. in February.
The team will host its annual Drill and Dance Competition Dec. 8 to raise money but is also seeking tax-decuctible donations of $50 or more from local businesses. Contributors of $50 or more will receive an advertisement in the team’s competition program which will be distributed to more than 1,000 people.
Checks can be made out to Shorewood High School. For the $50 program ad send in a business card with the money to the school.

ROTARY RUN: Pre-registration is now available online for the Celebrate Shoreline Rotary Run 9 a.m. Aug. 18 at Shoreline Stadium. The event includes a 5K run or walk and a 10K run. Adult pre-registration is $20 and $25 the day of the race; $15 for middle and high school students and $10 for children 12-and-under. Participants get a T-shirt and goody bag.
The run is flat and fast, and many runners post their fastest times on the course. For walkers the parks and back streets create a peaceful environment to walk with friends and pets (scoop and leash laws apply). The run is sponsored by the Shoreline Rotary Foundation with proceeds going toward the Shoreline Community College Foundation and the YMCA/Family Center of North King and South Snohomish counties.
GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Shoreline Breakfast Rotary Club will hold its 13th annual golf tournament Monday, Aug. 13 at Mill Creek Country Club. The four-person scramble event will begin with registration at noon and tee-off at 1 p.m.. The entry fee of $125 per player or $500 per team includes green fees, cart, gifts and dinner. The tournament will include closest-to-the-pin, long drive, short drive and hole-in-one contests. Proceeds from the event benefit club service projects such as the International Student Exchange, college scholarships, the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation, community involvement projects and international water projects.
