LYNNWOOD — A man was hurt Thursday morning when his van rear-ended a school bus headed to Mountlake Terrace High School, police said.
The man, 27, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
None of the approximately 20 students aboard was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred about 6:30 a.m. near 202nd Street SW and Cypress Way, she said. Five students complained of soreness and were taken to Stevens Hospital as a precaution.
The other students were picked up by another school bus or parents and taken to school.
The bus was stopped after picking up students when it was struck by the van, Hover said.
No citations were issued. The accident remains under investigation by sheriff’s deputies and the Washington State Patrol.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a south Everett bank Wednesday evening.
The man gave a teller a note demanding money about 7 p.m. at the Washington Mutual Bank branch inside the Fred Meyer store in the 12900 block of the Bothell-Everett Highway, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The note said the man had a gun, though none was seen, Goetz said. The robber ran from the bank and police used a dog to search, but were unable to find him.
The man is described as white, in his early 20s, slender to medium build with brown hair and several days growth of facial hair. He was wearing a dark colored stocking cap with a light horizontal stripe, a black or gray sweatshirt and black pants. Surveillance video photos of the man were released Thursday.

Bothell: Man guilty of sex crimes against teen
A 35-year-old man faces up to 20 years in prison after a Snohomish County Superior Court jury Thursday convicted him of five sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.
Zahid Aziz Khan, a Pakistani national, was convicted after a four-day trial. The jury deliberated about two hours before finding him guilty of two counts of second-degree child rape, two counts of third-degree child rape and one count of attempted child rape.
Judge Kenneth Cowsert scheduled sentencing for Jan. 14. Lawyers said that Khan is subject to deportation at the end of his prison term.
Deputy prosecutor Cindy Larsen said in court papers that there were dozens of incidents of sexual contact. Lennard Nahajski, Khan’s Seattle defense attorney, argued that none of the offenses happened.
