Award winners have done so much

On behalf of Everett Central Lions Club, I would like to thank all those who attended our 10th annual Medal of Merit Award presentation and reception on Nov. 14. This year’s event honored Dwayne and Rosemary Lane. The Lanes have done so much for the children of Snohomish County over the past 40-plus years. Their generosity and involvement have benefited the Boys and Girls Club, Campfire, Scouting, March of Dimes, YMCA, the Walsh Platt scholarship programs and hundreds of youth groups. The Lanes’ contributions have made our area a great place for a child to grow up. Their support of the Everett Providence Health Care Clinic and the Lions Sight and Hearing Programs has made this area a healthier place to live for those in need.

The Lions Medal of Merit Award is one of the most prestigious awards bestowed by Lions International and associated clubs. The award goes to those who have raised their families and managed their careers with moral integrity and who have given back to their community. Recipients set shining examples for others to follow. Past recipients include Bob and Margaret Bavasi, Helen Jackson, Bernie Webber, John and Ida Mae Schack, Ed Hansen, Larry Hanson, Frank McCord, Ed and Betty Morrow, Dr. Tony Roon and Dottie Piasecki.

Proceeds from this year’s award ceremony and reception benefited Boys and Girls Club, Everett Providence Health Care Clinic and Lions Sight and Hearing Programs. Donations in Dwayne’s and Rosemary’s names are still being accepted by sending a check to Everett Central Lions Club c/o Bridget Larsen, POB 12220 Everett, WA 98206.
