EVERETT — Police said an Everett man is in critical condition at a local hospital after being stabbed Monday.
Someone called police just before 6 a.m. Monday after finding the 30-year-old man on the ground in a parking lot in the 400 block of 85th Place SW, Everett police Sgt. Jerry Strieck said.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition, Strieck said.
Police have not been able to interview the victim, he said.
Detectives do not believe the stabbing was random. It’s unknown if it was gang related, Strieck said.
The stabbing occurred near W. Casino Road, an area where the city has been fighting street crime connected to drug trafficking and gangs.
Anyone with information is asked to call Everett police detective Tim O’Hara at 425-257-8480.
Fire destroys van; dog feared dead
A camper van was destroyed and a pet dog likely died in a fire that also damaged two other cars and melted the vinyl siding on a two-story apartment complex in south Everett.
The fire was sparked somehow shortly after 9 p.m. at Cascadia Pointe Apartment Homes in the 8700 block of Fifth Avenue W. in Everett. No injuries were reported.
“It just sounded like a gunshots were going off,” said Sean O’Leary, who lives in an apartment next to the fire.
Everett Fire Department Battalion Chief Roger Westlund said the cause of the fire and cost of damage would be determined after an investigation.
Kevin Graham’s ex-wife lives in the van and she was visiting him when it caught fire, he said. He said she was distraught, especially about her missing pet.
“It’s everything she owned,” he said. “Everything.”
