Make it a priority, don’t raise taxes

Regarding the Wednesday article, “Countywide tax pitched to fix traffic”:
As a long-time commuter and one who left Marysville primarily due to its traffic nightmares, I am all for increasing taxes to improve traffic. But, and this is a big but … I am totally against raising the overall tax burden to our citizens. Therefore, the only way to do this is to cut taxes elsewhere. Where, you may ask? I would suggest that our county do something along the lines of drafting a “priorities” initiative that would tell our alleged “representatives” how and where we want them to focus their efforts. Fixing traffic should be very high on the list. Prosecuting and jailing people for “victimless crimes” should be at the bottom of the list.
