MONROE — Police thought they spotted an escaped inmate from the Washington State Reformatory on Friday.

Turns out the homeless man was released from prison on Wednesday and was still wearing his prison uniform when police spotted him Friday, said Chad Lewis, a spokesman for state Department of Corrections.

Police stopped the man but he didn’t have any identification.

“That raised the red flag that he could be escaped,” Lewis said.

Authorities at the reformatory did a head count and determined that no one was missing, he said.

“It was just a wardrobe issue,” Lewis said.

Lynnwood: Blaze destroys mobile home

No one was seriously hurt in a fire that destroyed a mobile home Friday.

A woman escaped from the home after the blaze broke out at Lynnwood Heights Mobile Home Park, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Firefighters arrived just before 7:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of 164th Street SW to find the home engulfed in flames. It was destroyed and two neighboring homes were damaged by heat from the fire.

The fire caused about $85,000 in damage.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Woodinville: Man fires at fleeing suspect

A man fired shots at the getaway car of a burglar after the suspect attempted to run him down.

The man on Friday afternoon went to check on his property in the 22000 block of Highway 203, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

He found the door to an outbuilding kicked in. At that time, the suspect came out of the building, jumped in a pickup truck and tried to run down the property owner, Hover said.

The property owner fired shots at the tires of the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect drove off.

No injuries were reported.

Police are looking for the suspect. He was driving an older pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
