EDMONDS — An Edmonds computer programmer and consultant used unreported income to buy cars, a yacht and real estate instead of paying his income tax in 2000, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle said Friday.
Lyle R. Larson, 43, pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court for filing a false income tax return. He faces up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he’s sentenced July 25.
According to court documents, Larson earned more than $2.8 million between 2000 and 2003. In 2001, he filed his return reflecting that he made only $21,185 in 2000.
The government says he actually made more than $1.5 million that year.
In his plea agreement, Larson said he will make full restitution. He also remains liable for civil penalties.
Arlington: Man had lots of pot, cops say
ARLINGTON — When police finally arrested an Arlington man who fled police Thursday, they found nearly $15,000 worth of marijuana and around $700 cash in his backpack, police said.
An officer recognized the man, 18, who has been arrested many times before by Arlington police, said Kristin Banfield, a city spokeswoman.
The man tried to run away. The officer gave chase and in the pursuit, officers and the man tumbled about 40 feet down a hill in Terrace Park, Banfield said.
Two officers suffered minor injuries in the scuffle and were treated and released from the hospital Thursday night, she said. The man was kept overnight and released to police Friday morning, Banfield said.
The man was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of drug charges, felony assault and malicious mischief.
