50 years ago (1958)

President Eisenhower signed the Interstate Highway Bill. For Everett, Marysville and Lynnwood, that meant that Highway 99 would one day be replaced by I-5.

Bob Olson bowled the top series last night at Tyee Bowl in Everett. With his games of 221, 209 and 194, his 624 edged out Al Dearle’s 623. Dearle topped his trio with a splendid 238 game. The only other big series was Dick Grahm’s 611. Betty Ermence was well above her 137 average with a 521 series and a 209 game.

25 years ago (1983)

Everett Eagles at 3726 Broadway was presenting a tribute to Elvis Presley with Johnny Rusk. Act 1 was Elvis in the 1950s, a look at the start of rock ‘n’ roll, and Act 2 was Elvis in the 1970s, the man as a performer. Tickets were on sale for $7.50.
