Vendors needed for Darrington fair

Artists, craftsmen and volunteers are being sought for Darrington’s Mountain Loop Experience Festival planned for June 28.

The festival celebrates the reopening of the Mountain Loop Highway between Darrington and Granite Falls. Darrington, Arlington and Granite Falls have events planned June 28 and 29.

Events in Darrington include a street fair, a salmon bake, a car show, an open-air market, sidewalk sales at local businesses and a baseball tournament. Call 360-436-01863.

Junior livestock show coming

The Puget Sound Junior Livestock Show and Sale, previously held at the Marysville Livestock Auction yard, is in its second year at the Skagit County Fairgrounds.

The show and sale are set for June 6 and 7 at the fairgrounds, 1410 Virginia St., in downtown Mount Vernon.

The Puget Sound Junior Livestock Show features 4-H and FFA members from Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties. These students exhibit cattle, swine, sheep and goats in type and fitting-and-showing classes on June 6 and sell the animals through auction at 10 a.m. on June 7.

Fun run supports scholarships

The Arlington Runners Club’s Gleneagle Community Fun Run, set for Saturday, will benefit the Arlington Dollars for Scholars scholarship program.

Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and the race starts at 10 a.m. at Pioneer Elementary School, 8213 Eaglefield Drive, Arlington. The racecourse winds through the Gleneagle development.

Recycle those plastic pots

Plastics used in agriculture can be recycled Saturday in Stanwood and Sunday in Monroe.

The recycling events are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Skagit Farmers Supply Country Store, 8815 272nd St., Stanwood, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.

The events are presented by Snohomish County, the conservation district, ReSources for Sustainable Communities and the Washington State University extension office.
