Arlington
Drop off your household refuse
The city of Arlington is planning its annual Spring Cleanup Event for June 14.
The event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arlington Airport, with entry from 188th Street NE. Signs will be posted on Cemetery Road and Smokey Point Boulevard.
Residents of the city of Arlington may bring items such as computers and monitors, TVs, refrigerators and freezers, recyclable metals, furniture, and up to four tires per household for disposal.
Proof of residency will be required. Neither household hazardous waste nor items from businesses will be accepted.

Darrington
Cascade Seniors to hold plant and rummage sale
The Darrington Cascade Seniors have scheduled a plant and rummage sale from Thursday through Saturday.
The event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days at the Cascade Darrington Senior Center, 1115 Darrington Ave. A wide range of items is expected to be available. Proceeds will benefit the senior center.

Granite Falls
Council considers an increase in water rates
An increase in water rates is among the agenda items at a meeting of the Granite Falls City Council tonight.
The meeting is 7 p.m. at City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave.
The Snohomish County PUD, which provides city of Everett water to Granite Falls and other jurisdictions, is raising the rate from $1.01 per 100 cubic yards to $1.06. The city plans to pass the increase on to the consumer.
The PUD sets its rates according to city of Everett wholesale adjustments, along with other changes in operating costs, PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos said.

The Lake Goodwin Community Club is planning its annual Neighborhood Garage Sale for June 14.

Marysville
City approves fines for fireworks violations
The Marysville City Council has approved changes to its fireworks laws.
The biggest change allows police to issue fines to violators as an alternative to criminal penalties. Before, fireworks violators had to be charged with at least a mis– demeanor criminal offense.
The change, approved by the city May 27, allows police to issue civil infractions carrying fines of not more than $500.
The council also approved increasing criminal penalties to up to $5,000 and a year in jail.
Discharge of fireworks in the city is restricted to 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4 only. The sale of legal fireworks is allowed from noon to 11 p.m. June 28 and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 29 to July 4.

Stanwood
City plans fireworks show for Fourth of July
Stanwood’s 2008 Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration is planned for 4 to 11 p.m. at Heritage Park, 9700 276th St. NW.
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 10:30 p.m. Parking will be available at Stanwood Middle School, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and the former Thrifty Foods in addition to the park itself.
No smoking, personal fireworks, dogs, alcohol or drugs are allowed.
