Garden club annual tour coming July 27

The Snohomish Garden Club has scheduled its 24th annual garden tour for noon to 5 p.m. July 27.

Tickets are $12 if purchased by July 20, $15 after.

Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour at the Snohomish Public Library, Fourth Street and Maple Avenue in downtown Snohomish.

Father’s Day car show is Sunday

Everett’s Northshore Christian Church presents its sixth annual Father’s Day Car and Bike Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, 5700 23rd Drive W., Everett.

Dads are invited to bring their favorite rides or come to see a variety of cars and bikes.

The day’s activities include a hot breakfast and lunch, a silent auction for a 1990 Mercury Cougar with new tires, plus drawings, door prizes, trophies and free dash plaques for the first 150 entries.

All proceeds go to the church’s homeless food ministry.

County grant to pay for play field upgrades

New backstops, benches and other improvements are planned for Forest Crest play fields using grant funding from Snohomish County.

The park, at 5006 236th St. SW, is set to also receive new fencing and parking to make the park more accessible to people with disabilities. Work is scheduled to be finished later this summer.

The Snohomish County Youth Amenities and Recreation Development grant is expected to pay for $6,663 of the $26,650 project.

Help judge county performance

Public meetings planned this month open the door to helping Snohomish County government be more effective and efficient.

Meetings to review the county’s performance are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19. Meetings are on the first floor of the county administration building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
