Marine Corps Pfc. Ian Stewart of Snohomish recently graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Training in San Diego, Calif. Stewart earned a meritorious promotion to his current rank while in boot camp. He is a 2006 graduate of Snohomish High School and is the son of Tomm and Boukje Stewart of Snohomish.
Navy Seaman Recruit Anthony J. Kubin, son of Judith Johnson of Marysville and Joseph Kubin of Everett, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Kubin is a 2007 graduate of Cascade High School.
Army National Guard Sgt. John C. Branthoover has been mobilized and activated for deployment to Iraq. Branthoover, a military police member with 19 years of military service, is assigned to the 40th Military Police Company, Los Alamitos, Calif. He is the son of John and Eleanor Branthoover of Arlington.
Czachariah M. Hangartner and Kaylah B. Gonzales-Hangartner, a husband-and-wife military team, have been promoted to the ranks of sergeant and specialist, respectively. Army Sgt. Hangartner and Army Spc. Gonzales-Hangartner are serving in Iraq, where they are health-care specialists regularly assigned to the 547th Medical Company at Fort Lewis in Tacoma. Hangartner is the son of Paul Michael Hangartner of Marysville and Michell Hangartner of Everett. Gonzales-Hangartner is the daughter of Joseph Gonzales of Ivanhoe, Calif., and Veronica Clements of Visalia, Calif.
