STANWOOD – He apparently wanted to settle a score over a dirt bike and a girl.

Stanwood police arrested a man, 25, after he allegedly confronted someone he believed rode a dirt bike through the kitchen of his Stanwood home and also was having an affair with his girlfriend.

The man drove up to a Stanwood home Monday and threatened a man with a baseball bat, saying, “We’re going to settle this,” according to court documents filed in Snohomish County Superior Court.

The suspect, who police said was intoxicated, went to a home in the 27600 block of 73rd Avenue NW where he apparently believed a philandering dirt bike rider lived.

The victim told police he never met the man before and doesn’t know his girlfriend, the court documents said.

The suspect left, then returned, chasing the victim into his home and kicked in the front door.

The suspect allegedly told police someone drove a dirt bike through his living room, scraping doorways and leaving tire marks on the kitchen floor and “burnout marks” on his lawn, the documents said.

The suspect may have gone to the man’s house because he drove a pick-up truck similar to one owned by someone friendly with his girlfriend, Stanwood police Chief Dave Bales said.

Police said they investigated and could find no evidence to support the suspect’s story about a dirt bike being driven through his home, Bales said.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault and second-degree burglary.
