ARLINGTON – A segment of Highway 9 near Arlington is to be closed this weekend, requiring drivers to take a detour, the state Department of Transportation said.
Crews plan to shut down the highway from Armstrong Road to just north of Harvey Creek Road from 10 p.m. tonight to noon Monday. The work is to open a new one-mile section of the highway, excavating the old stretch of the road that is steep and full of curves.
In addition, crews plan to complete new turn lanes at the intersections of 252nd St NE and 268th St NE, and to replace a culvert to improve fish passage at Kackman Creek.
This $20.7 million project, funded mainly by a 2003 gas tax hike, is scheduled to complete this fall.
