ARLINGTON – One lane of a new segment of Highway 9 near Arlington opened around 3 p.m. today.
The new one-mile section of the highway from Armstrong Road to just north of Harvey Creek Road has replaced the old stretch of the road that was steep and full of curves.
The $20.7 million project, funded mainly by a 2003 gas tax hike, is scheduled to complete this fall. This summer, crews plan to create new turn lanes at the intersections of 252nd St NE and 268th St NE, and replace a culvert to improve fish passage at Kackman Creek.
