Call for new artists in Stanwood
The Stanwood-Camano branch of the American Association of University Women invites artists whose work has not previously been shown in its invitational art show to submit three to five pieces for jury selection.
Take your work from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to Stanwood United Methodist Church, 27128 102nd Drive NW in Stanwood.
Selected artists will be notified by Aug. 1 that their work will be on display in a September show.
Belly-flop contest tonight in Edmonds
Water splashes and stomachs slap at Edmonds’ belly-flop and cannonball contest at Yost Pool.
The 29th annual contest is at 6 tonight at 9535 Bowdoin Way. It is being planned by the Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department.
Judges score jumps on a scale of 1 to 10, and participants are divided into age groups.
Jam sessions for kids on Fridays
Arlington’s Village Music and Art’s summer jam sessions for kids are from 1 to 3 p.m. Fridays at 338 N. Macleod Ave., Arlington. The sessions feature live music led by Jon Dalgarn of “Out of the Ashes.”
Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Blood drive at EvCC on Wednesday
The Everett Community College Student Activities Health and Wellness Program and the Puget Sound Blood Center plan a blood drive from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Everett Community College’s Jackson Center, 2000 Tower St.
Parking on campus is by permit only. Visitors permits are available in the security office and Parks Student Union and may be picked up the day of the event.
Enroll for livestock aid by July 18
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency in Snohomish County has announced that livestock producers have until July 18 to enroll in the 2005-07 Livestock Compensation Program and Livestock Indemnity Program.
The programs provide aid to livestock producers who suffered eligible livestock or livestock feed losses between Jan. 1, 2005, and Dec. 31, 2007, because of a natural disaster. For more information, go to www.fsa.usda.gov.
