EvCC hosts a science and engineering camp

Everett Community College is hosting two weeklong science and engineering camp sessions for students entering the seventh, eighth and ninth grades.

The camp is called Increasing Diversity in Engineering and Science, or IDEAS, and is designed to introduce middle school students to careers in science and engineering.

Students will be taught by EvCC instructors and scientists. They’ll learn about science and business innovation, go on a marine biology field trip, build rockets and bridges and do other educational activities.

The first session is Aug. 11-15. The second session is Aug. 18-22. The camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch and supplies provided.

The cost is $40 per student. The camp is free for students whose families earn less than $40,000 per year.

All students must apply to attend. Applications are available on EvCC’s Web site, www.everettcc.edu, or by calling 425-388-9292.
