Local briefly: Everett slaying victim, 38, was from Shoreline

EVERETT — A man who was shot to death Monday morning was identified Tuesday. Cory Hamilton, 38, of Shoreline died in a driveway in the 2400 block of 75th Street SE in south Everett, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

No arrests have been made, but police said the killing was not random.

Around 5:40 a.m. Monday, police responded to the neighborhood after gunfire was heard, police said. Hamilton suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Detectives have not determined a motive. The death was the city’s first fatal shooting of 2008, and the sixth homicide investigation in the county this year.

Monroe: Man who died at track named

A 19-year-old man who died Monday on a dirt-bike track near Silvana was identified as Troy Boggs of Monroe, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. on the track in the 22000 block of Sather Road in the Silvana area, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The teen was reportedly riding motorbikes with three other young men on the private, rural property when he crashed. Boggs, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
