MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The man apparently shot and killed by police Wednesday was identified Thursday as Richard Adam Pastore-Felix, 18, of Mountlake Terrace.
The Snohomish County medical examiner said Pastore-Felix died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Snohomish County prosecutors will determine if the Mountlake Terrace police officer who fired the fatal shot was justified in his use of lethal force.
Just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, police and neighbors heard gunshots in the 23700 block of 48th Avenue W., officials said.
Police converged on the area and the Mountlake Terrace police officer fired one shot at Pastore-Felix, who reportedly was leaning out of a window with a firearm, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
A special team of detectives from around Snohomish County is investigating the incident. The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
Marysville: Woman injured in I-5 wreck
A Stanwood woman was taken to the hospital late Wednesday after her car was trapped under a large truck and thrown into cable barriers.
A semi-truck driven by an Othello man, 44, bumped into the woman’s car about 11:45 p.m. near 116th Street on I-5 north, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
The woman’s car spun out and was trapped under the truck. When the car dislodged, it was caught by the cable barriers in the median, Leary said.
The woman, 52, had pain all over her body. The truck driver was cited for making an unsafe lane change.
One lane of traffic on the busy freeway was blocked for about an hour as officials cleaned up the mess, Leary said.

Carlton: Everett man shot self before fire
A 65-year-old Everett man found dead in the garage of his summer home in the Wenatchee area following a house fire Wednesday morning apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Dave Rodriguez, Okanogan County chief criminal deputy, said the man died of a single gunshot wound to his head. Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said it is believed to be self-inflicted.
The man apparently ignited a fire in his garage before taking his life, said Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers. He was not burned by the fire, Rodriguez said.
He said it appeared the man tied his dog to a fence away from the building and moved a bird cage with birds out into the yard.
He also took propane tanks out of the building, “I’m guessing so they wouldn’t explode while the fire department was there,” Rodriguez said.
A neighbor called emergency dispatch at 6:30 a.m. after noticing the blaze, and firefighters called the sheriff’s office after finding the body, Rogers said.
