Delays expected on U.S. 2 near Index starting next week

INDEX – Starting Tuesday, drivers can expect up to 20-minute closures on U.S. 2 near Index during the day, as crews stabilize the embankment under the highway, the state Department of Transportation reported today.

Crews are expected to build a rock and gravel buttress. They plan to use explosives to secure the foundation of the buttress. During the work, drivers can expect intermittent closures near Sunset Falls, just east of Index, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

The $3.2 million work is scheduled to wrap up this fall.
