Seahawks Training Camp: Day 12

Published 11:29 pm Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Highlights: While QB Matt Hasselbeck did throw another pass to the wrong side — Pro Bowl MLB Lofa Tatupu recorded the defense’s fourth interception in the past two morning practices — he had a pretty strong day. Hasselbeck connected with WRs Courtney Taylor and Nate Burleson, then hit Ben Obomanu on a deep route. Obomanu, who is battling for the No. 3 receiver position until Deion Branch returns from injury, continues to make a solid case. Obomanu and first-year receiver Trent Shelton were the stars of Tuesday’s practices.

Training room: TE Will Heller (hamstring) was the latest Seahawk to sit out practice, joining WR Deion Branch (knee), DE Patrick Kerney (calf), C Chris Spencer (back), P Ryan Plackemeier (pectoral), CB Jordan Babineaux (knee), WR Logan Payne (cracked rib), T/G Floyd Womack (knee), DT Red Bryant (knee), DT Marcus Tubbs (knee), DT Larry Tripplett (knee), LB Will Herring (medical condition), LB Wesly Mallard (hamstring), DE Chris Cooper (leg), DT Nu’u Tafisi (ankle), LB Matt Castelo (knee) and LB Eric Wicks (quad). WR Michael Bumpus strained his right hamstring during the morning session and watched the afternoon session while sporting a wrap on the sideline.

Today’s schedule: The Seahawks have their final two full practices as they prepare for Friday’s preseason opener against the Vikings. On Thursday, the Seahawks will hold a short walk-through before heading to Minnesota.

Days until opener: 32
