EVERETT — Two men looking for a way to break their boredom Wednesday night found their entertainment by allegedly beating an Everett man with a baseball bat and terrorizing two people at Clark Park.

The men, an 18-year-old from Marysville and a 21-year-old from Sedro-Woolley, were arrested Thursday and jailed for investigation of robbery.

The evening apparently started at a Marysville home when the two men met up and invited two women to join them for a drive to Everett to “find something to do,” according to court documents.

When the Marysville man started talking about “jacking” people — robbing them — the women at first thought he was joking, the documents said.

He wasn’t.

Around 9:45 p.m., the men drove to Clark Park when they allegedly used a metal baseball bat to threaten two people, demanding money, a backpack and a fancy cell phone, the documents said.

One man wore a ski mask, the other had a baseball cap pulled down over his face.

The men got back into the car and showed the women their loot. One of the women later told police she was “in disbelief and not happy about what had just happened,” the documents said.

About 50 minutes later, police were called to the 1400 block of 80th Street SW in south Everett where a 47-year-old man had been severely beaten and robbed. One man hit him with a baseball bat while the other man kicked him. The beaten man was taken to the hospital with a possible broken wrist, head, rib and facial injuries, the documents said.

One of the women who was with the two men told police she was disgusted by the beating and asked to go home.

Police arrested the Sedro-Woolley man at a Marysville McDonald’s. The other man surrendered to police when they surrounded his home.

The robberies are being investigated by the Everett police major crimes unit.

On Friday, a judge ordered both men held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
