Dog tracks down hit-and-run suspect

ARLINGTON — Police used a tracking dog to find a woman suspected in a hit-and-run crash Saturday.

The people hurt in the crash, which occurred about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of E. Burke Street and Highway 9, were treated and released at a hospital, said Kristin Banfield, an Arlington city spokeswoman.

The woman who allegedly caused the accident sped off in her car, then ditched it on Dike Road before running toward the Stillaguamish River, she said.

Arlington police, with help from Snohomish County deputies, Stillaguamish tribal police officers and a Lynnwood police dog, tracked the woman down and arrested her without incident.

The Arlington woman, 30, was arrested and jailed for outstanding warrants and investigation of hit-and-run, Banfield said.
